Planning and planting is well underway with over 1000 pumpkin seeds in the ground and with the generous support of the Northern Tablelands Local Land Services, Tankworks and the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation an irrigation system and tank has been acquired, built and installed.
With the assistance of Tilbuster’s project coordinator, Charlie Winter, many young people have been involved from laying the pipe through to building the tank. Not only will this water grow the vegetables, it will also supply water to troughs for the cattle which will also enable rehabilitation of Tilbuster Ponds creek which runs through the property.
The aim of the Pumpkin Run has always been to give back to the community, growing and supplying fresh vegetables, especially pumpkins, to refuges, nursing homes and to feed those less fortunate.
