The Circle of Security Parenting program is an international, research-based initiative that assists caregivers in providing their children with the emotional support needed to develop secure attachments. The program aims to help caregivers increase their awareness of their children’s needs and assess whether their responses meet those needs. Throughout the program, caregivers will begin to look beyond their children’s behaviours and identify and respond to their emotional needs.
This program runs over eight weeks for parents and caregivers of children of all ages, recognizing that the need for secure attachment continues throughout life. The skills nurtured in Circle of Security Parenting can strengthen the connection between parents and their children.
Facilitators will help you identify how children signal their need for connection and emotional support, as well as how you can effectively meet those needs. By addressing your child’s emotional needs, you will feel more confident and supported in your parenting journey.
Connection is an essential component of positive relationships, contributing to children’s mental health and overall development. Strong parent-child connections, along with positive relationships with siblings, family, and friends, help guide children through their journey into adulthood.
Secure children develop higher self-esteem, increased confidence, resilience, and are kinder to those around them.
Inverell Family Youth Support Service (IFYSS) is privileged to provide this program to the Inverell community, helping to strengthen the connection between parents and their children.
