IFYSS focuses on strengthening and supporting families and young people in need of support to make positive changes in their lives. The IFYSS Support Worker will provide a range of support, advocacy and referral services to families, youth and children throughout the Inverell District. The IFYSS Support Worker will be responsible for developing appropriate activities and programs and facilitating informal support groups aimed at enhancing the skills and confidence of families, youth and children to achieve positive outcomes. In addition to the Inverell township services are provided to Tingha, Ashford and surrounding areas.
It is a requirement to have the knowledge and understanding of the issues that affect Aboriginal communities, societies and cultures as the IFYSS Support Worker will be required to advocate on behalf of Aboriginal and cultural diverse families, youth and children while providing services in a culturally sensitive manner.
The IFYSS Support Worker will also be required to build strong relationships with Aboriginal agencies to support and strengthen families and cultural connections.
This position is Level 3.1 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Modern Award (“the SCHDSI Award”).
