We are currently looking for a permanent part time (25 hours per week) Specialist Homeless Support Workers to be based in Inverell Women’s Refuge. This role has an “on call” component that will be discussed at time of interview.
The successful applicants will be required to work as part of a team that help vulnerable people in crisis and those at risk of homelessness to remain in long-term safe accommodation and to break the cycle of homelessness in the Inverell/Glen Innes areas.
It is also a requirement to have the knowledge and understanding of the issues that affect Aboriginal communities, societies and cultures in NSW. Pathfinders encourage applications from people who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
The successful applicant will need to be willing to advocate on behalf of Aboriginal young people and their families in providing cultural support. The successful applicants will also provide services to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children, young people and families. The successful applicants will be required to build strong relationships with Aboriginal agencies to support and strengthen families and cultural connections.
This position is Level 4 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Modern Award (“the SCHDSI Award”). Salary is negotiable dependent on qualifications, skills and experience.
