Pumpkin pickin’ volunteers

As the saying goes, many hands make light work and this is exactly what happened at Tilbuster Station when nearly 4 tonne of pumpkins were required to be picked. Friends of Tilbuster, staff and young people all pitched in to load the pumpkins ready to be distributed on our annual Pumpkin Run.

Not only do our volunteers pick pumpkins, of course there is a lot of preparation in ensuring the pumpkins are planted, weeded and watered. Our young people involved in the Tilbuster program also gain skills and knowledge from our volunteers who are also great mentors to our young people.

Pathfinders volunteers are valued members of our organisation. Volunteering is a way in which you can participate in the activities of your community. It is also a vehicle for individuals or groups to address human, environmental and social needs.

Volunteering makes a difference in happiness and mood and can have a powerful physical and emotional feeling experienced when directly helping others.

To become a volunteer at Pathfinders, no skills are necessary, just a little of your time and your enthusiasm can make a huge difference.
