Youth Week Fishing Competition 2026

COMPETITION GUIDELINES

Pathfinders is pleased to present the 2026 Youth Week Fishing Competition, open to young people residing within the Inverell Shire. This initiative aims to encourage outdoor activity, skill development and positive community engagement during the school holiday period.

Eligibility

Participation in the competition is subject to the following eligibility criteria:

• Entrants must be aged between 12 and 24 years at the time of entry.
• Entrants must be current residents of the Inverell Shire.
• Participants aged 18 years and over are responsible for ensuring they hold a valid NSW Recreational Fishing Licence, where required under NSW law.

Competition Period

The competition will commence on 8:00am Friday, 3 April 2026 and conclude on 5:00pm Thursday, 16 April 2026.

How to Enter

To enter the competition, participants must:

1. Fish in a location that is legally permitted within the Inverell Shire.
2. Take a clear photograph of their catch – with the code word (Write the code word on piece of paper and carry with you while fishing) One code word to be released on the Pathfinders Facebook Page on 2 April  2026.
3. Submit their completed entry form and photograph:
   1. Via the online submission form below; or
   1. In person at the Pathfinders Inverell office prior to the closing date.

All valid entries received within the competition period will automatically be entered into the prize draws. The more entries you submit, the more chances you have to win – every catch counts!

Prize Categories

Prizes will be awarded across a range of categories, which may include:

• Most fish caught overall (over 10cm)
• Multiple Random Draw prizes
• Best Photo Submission (Get silly, have fun – scored on best laughs)

Importantly, all participants who submit a valid entry will go into the draw to win a prize, regardless of catch size.

By entering the competition, participants acknowledge and agree that: *

• Participants must comply with all NSW recreational fishing regulations, including size limits, bag limits and permitted species. Pathfinders encourage the practice of catch and release.
• All waterways and fishing locations must be respected, including appropriate disposal of rubbish and responsible environmental practices.
• Submitted photographs may be used by Pathfinders for promotional and reporting purposes.
