Building Skills and Independence

Pathfinders dedicated support workers are committed to supporting you to develop your skills and build independence in the home and in the community.  We recognise the uniqueness of each individual, and we take a highly personalised approach to training and support. We collaborate closely with you to ensure the skills you develop align closely with your goals and needs. We can:

  • help you with a wide range of daily tasks in your own home, tailored to your preference and support needs
  • support you to engage in the community, connect and participate in activities that bring you joy and fulfilment.
Assistance with daily living

Assistance with daily living

Assistance with daily living is support that helps you learn and complete everyday tasks.  These supports can be provided in a range of places, including at home.  We can help support you with personal activities or daily tasks including: 

  • Personal care
  • Meal planning, preparation and cooking
  • Domestic activities including cleaning
  • Attending appointments
  • Shopping
  • Money and budgeting

Community Participation

Social and community participation is about meeting people with similar interests and joining in social and community activities. It means going where others go, doing what others do, with other people and choosing activities you enjoy.

Pathfinders want to support you to regularly connect with family, social circles and community groups.  We can offer you support to participate in various community and social activities of your choice, based on your interests.  Some examples of this include but are not limited to:

  • Engaging in sports
  • Joining a social club
  • Enrolling in classes or courses
  • Volunteering
  • Visiting family
  • Enjoying a meal or coffee outing with a friend
  • Attending a movie, concert or live performance

Development of life skills

Pathfinders are committed to equipping you with the skills necessary for leading a fulfilling and self-reliant lifestyle. We understand that independence is not a one-size-fits-all all concept, and therefore, we offer a diverse range of skills and support to cater to your needs and life goals. 

We can support you to:

  • Catch public transport
  • Plan and cook healthy meals
  • Use technology
  • Manage your finances
  • Engage in activities of interest
  • Enhance your social skills
