Aboriginal Support Worker

This is a designated Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act. Proof of Aboriginality is required.

We are currently looking for a Part Time AEYP Support Worker to be based in Gunnedah.

The AEYP Support Worker will specifically support and work with Aboriginal Families and children aged between 2 and 6 through early intervention work, to give children a good start in life through improved early childhood development, care, education and school readiness.

The AEYP Support Worker will require knowledge and understanding of the issues that affect Aboriginal communities, societies and cultures in NSW and be willing to advocate on behalf of Aboriginal young people and their families in providing cultural support and services to Aboriginal children, young people and families.

The AEYP Support Worker will also be required to build strong relationships with all agencies to support and strengthen families and cultural connections Travel will be an expectation.

This position is Level 3.1 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Modern Award (“the SCHDSI Award”).
