Integrated Domestic and Family Violence Service

Support to victims of domestic violence

Integrated Domestic and Family Violence Service (IDFVS) provides client-focused support to female victim-survivors, including children and young people experiencing domestic and family violence. The IDFVS program may also work with the person using violence, where appropriate, and only to the extent that it is compatible with the safety and wellbeing of victim-survivors and other family members.

IDFVS support is offered through a holistic approach centred on safety, risk reduction, and overall wellbeing. Our caseworkers collaborate closely with local support services to ensure clients receive coordinated assistance that meets the clients individual needs.

For people living in the Inverell and Glen Innes LGAs, support may include information, referrals, and targeted assistance designed to increase safety for everyone involved.

  • DFV victim-survivors from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds
  • DFV victim-survivors from refugee, migrant or asylum-seeking backgrounds

How IDFVS provides help to victims of violence

The program supports individuals currently living in a DFV relationship and those who have left the relationship. Using a trauma-informed, person-centred approach, IDFVS provides risk and needs assessments, safety planning, personalised case management, advocacy, and support to address both the practical and emotional impacts of trauma.

At Pathfinders, we are committed to providing safe, culturally respectful, and accessible support for individuals and families affected by domestic and family violence. IDFVS aims to empower victim-survivors, strengthen safety, and promote healing through compassionate, collaborative and responsive services.

The program will assist with service navigation and linking clients with specialist and community supports. Where children and young people are involved, IDFVS provides direct support and tailored strategies to meet their individual needs.
