Male Therapeutic Youth Worker

Pathfinders’ Out of Home Care Program provides a safe and nurturing environment for young people and who are in need of alternative accommodation due to being unable to live with their parents or foster carers.

We are currently looking for Male Part Time & Casual Therapeutic Youth Workers to assist in the residential care of these young people in Port Macquarie.

The role of the Therapeutic Youth Worker will be to deliver high quality therapeutic supports that holistically address the needs of children and young people. The Therapeutic Youth Worker will work closely with the Team Leader, Caseworker, Therapeutic Specialist and other therapeutic staff to provide therapeutic care in a home-like environment that supports young people to heal from trauma and live fulfilling lives. 

The Therapeutic Youth Worker will require knowledge and understanding of the issues that affect Aboriginal communities, societies and cultures in NSW. Willing to advocate on behalf of Aboriginal young people and their families in providing cultural support and provide services to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children, young people and families. 

Therapeutic Youth Workers will consistently apply the ten essential elements to therapeutic care in all their daily tasks and interactions with children and young people in Pathfinders care. 

The Therapeutic Youth Worker will also be required to build strong relationships with Aboriginal agencies to support and strengthen families and cultural connections. 

The Part Time position attracts the pay Level 4.1 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Modern Award (“the SCHDSI Award”).

The Casual position attracts the pay Level 3.1 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Modern Award (“the SCHDSI Award”).

  • A cover letter that addresses the Selection (Essential) Criteria as provided in the Job Package
  • An updated resume including details of at least two recent work-related referees.
  • Current Working with Children Check, Police History Check, First Aid and CPR certificate and a current Driver’s license.
