About Us:
Pathfinders is a large community-based organisation providing Supported Accommodation and Homelessness services, Family and Youth Support services, National Aboriginal Birth Certificate program, Client Support Services and Out of Home Care services. Pathfinders’ services are located across the Mid North Coast, New England and North West regions of NSW.
Pathfinders Out of Home Care Programs provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people who require accommodation and are unable to live with family or foster carers.
About the role:
We are currently seeking Casual Youth Workers to assist in the everyday care, growth and development of these children and young people. It is envisaged that you will work within all Out of Home Care (OOHC) programs. Philosophies utilised will include Circle of Courage and the Sanctuary Model.
You will be required to work shift work, including sleepovers and hours will be on an “as needed” basis.
Youth Worker roles are currently needed in the following locations:
- Port Macquarie
- Taree
- Forster
- Coffs Harbour
- Tamworth
- Armidale
- Inverell
The successful applicant will work with team members from a trauma informed and strengths-based framework to develop and provide safety for all children and young people in your care.
It is a requirement that you will have knowledge and understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal communities, societies and cultures in NSW.
The successful applicant will provide, and support the provision of, holistic services to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children, young people and their families. You will advocate on behalf of Aboriginal young people and their families to provide cultural support. You will also be required to build strong connections with Aboriginal agencies to support and strengthen families and cultural connections.
Remuneration:
Pathfinders provides regular supervision and support for all staff and opportunities for professional development. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (“the SCHDSI Award”). (This position aligns with Level 3.1)
