The Pathfinders National Aboriginal Birth Certificate Program (PNABC) participated in the First Nations Financial Wellness Week, which recently took place in Townsville and Palm Island. This event provided a wonderful opportunity for community members to get their money matters sorted with the support of banks, super funds, financial counsellors, and government services.
“Financial Wellness Week was a fantastic opportunity for us to engage with the community and provide much-needed support. It’s essential that we continue to bridge the gap in financial literacy and ensure everyone has access to the resources they need. Having a birth certificate is crucial for accessing these services, as it serves as a primary form of identification. Without it, many community members face significant barriers in managing their financial matters,” said Ronald Naden, PNABC Coordinator.
First Nations Foundation, which has reconnected Indigenous Australians with more than $26 million in superannuation through its award-winning Big Super Day Out events, played a key role in organising Financial Wellness Week. The foundation is dedicated to bridging the financial literacy gap between Indigenous Australians and the wider population.
We are grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this important event. If you missed the event and need assistance with obtaining a birth certificate, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
