This November, Pathfinders’ Core Team came together in Coffs Harbour for a weeklong Sanctuary Core Team training, embarking on the journey to help implement this therapeutic change model across Pathfinders. This first training marks an important step in Pathfinders commitment to enhancing trauma-informed care for both our staff and the young people, families, and communities we support. The Core Team gathered to gain a better understanding of the model and their individual roles within it.
The Sanctuary Model is an organisational culture change framework designed to create safe, healing environments for individuals who have experienced trauma. Many of those we support are affected by trauma, which can also impact the staff who work with them, as well as the broader organisation. The Sanctuary Model emphasises a culture of respect, support, and open communication, creating an environment where both staff and clients feel secure and empowered.
Through the model, staff are provided with tools and strategies to work together toward shared goals of growth, recovery, and positive change. By implementing the Sanctuary Model, Pathfinders aims to support not only those we care for but also the wellbeing of our team members.
Pathfinders’ Core Team, comprised of key staff members who will guide the organisation’s mission and strategy, participate in training sessions and discussions, and lead the integration of the Sanctuary principles into daily practice.
