PNABC head back to South Australia

Our Pathfinders National Aboriginal Birth Certificate Program recently held its second successful event in South Australia. Following the positive response from the community, we’re excited to announce that more events are on the horizon due to the high demand and success of our first Port Augusta event.

At our inaugural event in Port Augusta, held at the Port Augusta Salvation Army Corps, we welcomed 190 community members who received hands-on support in securing their birth certificates. With the help of the South Australian Births, Deaths, and Marriages Registry, many eligible participants were able to leave with their birth certificates in hand, which is an exciting first for the program.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Port Augusta Salvation Army for graciously hosting the event and for their ongoing support in promoting this important service. Port Augusta Salvation Army ministry leader, Kim Pringuer, shared her excitement: “It was fantastic to see so many families come out to access the service and receive the help they needed. No matter the reason someone hadn’t obtained their birth certificate, the Pathfinders team worked with them to resolve it.”

Kim also received feedback from locals who had experienced difficulty completing the forms. “Pathfinders was able to assist with any clerical errors and missing information,” she added. “It truly was a successful program.”

Kim further praised the Pathfinders team: “The way they handled the volume of people and the complexities involved in connecting everyone and collecting the necessary information was impressive. They were efficient, enthusiastic, patient, and genuinely wonderful to work with. They smiled the whole day, and that’s a true reflection of their dedication and passion.”

A special thank you to the Salvation Army team for their hard work and dedication, ensuring the smooth operation of the event. Building on this success, we’re looking forward to expanding the program’s reach with more events planned for Port Lincoln and Whyalla. Our commitment to providing this essential service continues as we work to help more people access the important documentation they need.
