On the 9th of October, Pathfinders Inverell Family Youth Support Service (IFYSS) worker Dylan along with JA Tours – Joeys Adventure Kayaking Tours came together to provide an exciting kayaking tour program at Lake Inverell for local youth, thanks to the NSW Regional Holiday Break Program.
The group arrived with perfect weather and was eager to start exploring the beautiful Lake Inverell with a 3-hour kayaking activity and discover the vibrant wildlife.
Taking in the scenic surroundings and wildlife as they made their way up the lake, the group stopped along the way as they passed flocks of pelicans, were greeted by graceful black swans, and were fortunate to see two pairs of eagles fiercely guarding their nests set high in the treetops above the lake.
The tour guide Heinrich shared lots of information about the wildlife and the local ecosystem. All the young people learnt so much throughout the day as Heinrich happily answered all their questions.
After a long paddle, the group finished off the day with a hearty lunch and refreshments as they spoke about the morning’s adventure before helping to wrap up the day by helping to load all the kayaks back onto the trailers.
