International Women’s Day Fundraiser
On Saturday 21 March, Pathfinders staff Marie Cosgrove (Integrated Domestic and Family Violence Service – IDFVS) and June Roberts (Senior Manager Communities NE/NW) attended the International Women’s Day fundraiser hosted by the Sapphire Collective in Inverell.
The Sapphire Collective is a vibrant networking community for women in business across the region, bringing people together to connect, share knowledge and support local initiatives. This year’s event highlighted the strength of local women supporting one another, while also raising awareness and funds for important community services.
Marie and June had the opportunity to speak with attendees about Pathfinders, including the range of supports we provide across our communities, and to highlight the critical role of the Inverell Women’s and Children’s Refuge. The conversations created space to raise awareness about homelessness and the increased vulnerability many women face when experiencing domestic and family violence. Marie also spoke about the importance of advocacy and how communities can play a role in supporting women and families impacted by DFV.
The event was led by Inverell Shire Mayor Kate Dight and featured a number of inspiring speakers from the local business community.
As a result of the event, the Sapphire Collective has committed to making a donation to the Inverell Women’s and Children’s Refuge from funds raised on the day. In addition, a valuable new connection was made with local business owner Monique Krause from Inverell Furniture Court, who has generously offered to donate a lounge to support the refuge.
Pathfinders is grateful for the ongoing support of the Inverell community and looks forward to continuing to build strong relationships that create meaningful change.
