Celebrating Our Foster Carers This Foster and Kinship Care Week

Foster and Kinship Care Week is being celebrated across NSW from 30 August to 5 September 2026, recognising the important role foster and kinship carers play in the lives of children and young people.

At Pathfinders, this week is an opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to our carers for the care, stability and support they provide every day.

To mark Foster and Kinship Care Week, the Pathfinders Foster Care team has created 100 special gift packs for carers. Each pack has been designed as both a thank-you and a practical resource to support carers’ own wellbeing throughout the year.

At the centre of the pack is a new Sanctuary Self-Care Guide for Foster Carers. As Pathfinders continues to embed the Sanctuary Model across its services, the guide encourages carers to reflect on their wellbeing, recognise when stress may be building and develop a self-care plan that works for them.

The packs also include a practical self-care plan, wellbeing prompts and ideas, and a specially designed Pathfinders tea towel.

The resources explore a range of areas including physical, emotional, psychological, social, cultural, relationship and professional wellbeing, helping carers recognise what is working well for them and where they may need additional support.

The packs are a small way of recognising the enormous contribution carers make and reminding them that their wellbeing matters too.

To all of our Pathfinders foster carers, thank you for the incredibly important role you play in the lives of children and young people, and for all that you do, this week and every week.
