Pathfinders and ADAPT Housing to Provide Specialised Disability Accommodation

Pathfinders, is delighted to announce the availability of Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) in Armidale. Partnering with ADAPT Housing, a renowned organisation specialising in disability housing, this initiative aims to offer high-quality accommodation for individuals with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs in the heart of the New England Tablelands.

The accommodation projects currently under-construction are designed to provide High Physical Support for SDA tenants with everything they require to live independently. These thoughtfully designed homes offer a perfect blend of space, flexibility, and privacy, ensuring that residents can enjoy their personal space with private ensuite and patios, while also benefiting from shared common areas featuring two living spaces and an expansive back patio.

“We are pleased to be able to offer Specialist Disability Accommodation in Armidale,” said Alan Brennan, CEO of Pathfinders. “Our mission at Pathfinders is to empower and support individuals with disabilities, and the addition of SDA housing in Armidale will allow us to enhance the quality of life and independence for our tenants. We believe that everyone deserves access to comfortable, supportive, and accessible homes, and this project represents a significant step towards achieving that goal.”

ADAPT Housing CEO, David Whitelaw, expressed his enthusiasm about the project and the positive impact it will have on the community. “We are pleased to see the availability of specialised accommodation in Armidale,” said David. “At ADAPT Housing, we are committed to creating homes that cater to the unique needs of our participants, and we are looking forward to presenting at the upcoming information seminar to be held in Armidale in the coming weeks, showcasing the benefits and features of these new SDA properties.”

The SDA dwellings in Armidale boast a high level of physical accessibility, with provisions for a variety of High Physical Support requirements, including ceiling hoists, automation of doors and windows, emergency backup power, and 24/7 onsite supports. Residents will also relish the opportunity to enjoy the natural serenity of Armidale while still having access to essential amenities, such as Armidale Private Hospital, local grocery stores, shopping centers, restaurants, museums, and more, all within just 7 minutes’ drive from their front door.

Pathfinders will complement the SDA housing with Supported Independent Living (SIL) support, offering round-the-clock on-site assistance to participants. This support includes cooking and cleaning, personal care, shopping assistance, and promotion of participation in household and community activities.

Pathfinders and ADAPT Housing will be hosting a free information session on the 23rd of August from 10 am to 1 pm at the Armidale Bowling Club, located at 92-96 Dumaresq St, Armidale, NSW 2350. The session is open to anyone interested in learning more about this exciting initiative.
