More than 100 children, young people and families came together to celebrate NAIDOC Week at the Deadly 3×3 Basketball Gala Day in Armidale.
Held at The Den Basketball Stadium, the event was a fantastic celebration of this year’s NAIDOC Week theme, 50 Years of Deadly.
The day began with a Welcome to Country by Leslie Widders, followed by a wonderful performance from the Lyambay Dance Group, setting the tone for a meaningful day of celebration.
Throughout the day, participants enjoyed basketball skills sessions, 3×3 competitions, arts and crafts, music, great food and plenty of fun both on and off the court.
A highlight of the event was the visit from Annie La Fleur OLY, Australian Opals Olympic silver medallist, former WNBA player and Head of Participation & Community at Basketball NSW. Annie spent time meeting participants, encouraging young players and sharing her passion for basketball, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.

A special thank you to our event partners Basketball NSW, Armidale Basketball Association, Services Our Way, Bamara, and Annie La Fleur OLY for helping deliver such a memorable day for local children, young people and families. Thank you also to Services Our Way for providing a free community BBQ that kept everyone warm and well fed throughout the day.
