We had an exciting and educational session this week, focusing on Farm Safety. Everyone enjoyed the session while learning important lessons about staying safe on the farm.
We were lucky this week to have one of our families bring in two little lambs for the children to meet. The kids had the chance to feed them a bottle of milk, shower them with lots of love and pats, and even show them around the yard.
The children had a hands-on experience with a ‘shut the gate’ Farmyard activity. They got to choose their favourite farm animals and glue them into their paddocks. While the children were having fun with this activity, we engaged in conversations about farm safety with both the children and their parents.
Our mats were set up with vehicles, barnyards, and all the farm animals, providing the children with an opportunity to explore and play all things farm-related. They used the vehicles to move the animals between the barns, and we encouraged conversations about vehicle safety during this playtime.
We gathered on the mat for some group time, where we sang “Old McDonald Had a Farm” and talked about farm safety. We asked the children what they thought farm safety meant and if any of them lived on a farm or visited one. One child shared an amusing story about pigs getting loose because a gate wasn’t shut, and another child spoke about visiting their grandparents’ farm, emphasising the importance of holding hands around the road and tractors. To provide more information on farm safety, we gave each parent a farm safety poster to take home.
No Bunbun Playgroup session is complete without a tasty morning tea! We offered a variety of sweet and savoury healthy snacks.
Thank you to all the parents for joining us, we look forward to more exciting adventures and learning opportunities in the coming weeks.
Stay tuned for the next update from Bunbun Playgroup!
