Pathfinders is proud to announce our partnership with GambleAware NSW in launching the Community Benefits Program, a vital initiative aimed at enhancing community awareness about gambling risks, with a strong emphasis on the impact of online gaming for children and the growing exposure to gambling through social media.
During GambleAware Week, We’re Hosting a Community Event and would love you to join us
Mark your calendar for a fantastic community event at Campbell Park in Inverell. On October 20, join us for a day filled with live music, a free BBQ lunch, and the opportunity to learn more about the services available to the community. Local community service providers will have informative stalls with exciting giveaways and lucky door prizes.
Pathfinders and GambleAware
Our partnership with GambleAware goes beyond community events. Pathfinders have collaborated to deliver an education program within schools, focusing on early intervention and highlighting potential issues related to online gambling, including its connection with online gaming. This program will also address critical mental health and social media concerns for young people.
Single Early Intervention workshops will be rolled out in 10 Primary Schools (Year 6) across the New England area, including Tenterfield, Glen Innes, Inverell, Guyra, Bundarra, Armidale, Uralla, and Tamworth. Workshops will be delivered in partnership with a staff member each from Pathfinders and GambleAware, complementing the existing workshops offered by Gamble Aware.
GambleAware Week is a significant annual initiative in New South Wales dedicated to raising awareness about gambling-related issues. Its core objectives include increasing public awareness of gambling risks, helping individuals understand risky gambling behaviour, encouraging self-awareness in gamblers, and providing practical solutions for managing and controlling gambling habits.
This year, the theme, “What’s gambling costing you?” highlights the broader impact of gambling, touching on financial, health, relationship, and career aspects, emphasising the far-reaching consequences that gambling can have on one’s life.
