A Rainy Day in Newcastle, but Spirits Were High!
Despite the wet and windy weather, our Pumpkin Run team was up early and full of energy for their visit to Soul Hub in Newcastle.
Soul Hub is a grassroots community organisation powered by an incredible team of dedicated volunteers. They provide meals and support to people experiencing homelessness, hardship, and social isolation. It is a place filled with heart, warmth, and a deep commitment to helping others.
Our young people were welcomed with open arms and quickly got to work. They unloaded donations, prepped pumpkins, peeled and chopped vegetables, helped out in the kitchen, and served meals to many of Soul Hub’s regular guests.
Walking through Soul Hub, it is easy to feel the passion and kindness that drives their mission. The atmosphere is infectious. It is the kind of place that makes you want to roll up your sleeves and stay.
After the lunch service, our team hit the streets of Newcastle to hand out pumpkins to locals and spread the spirit of the Pumpkin Run far and wide. We also left Soul Hub with a generous supply of fresh pumpkins, some for use in their kitchen and others to be distributed through their strong local networks to charities and community services across the region.
A huge thank you to the entire Soul Hub team for welcoming our young people and giving them the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful and inspiring day.
The team also visited Allambie Care and OzHarvest Newcastle, delivering two full pallets of pumpkins to support their incredible work feeding and caring for those in need.
Next stop, Sydney!
