A Day of Giving at Newtown Mission and Addison Road

Another big day on the road for the Pumpkin Run team, this time in the heart of Sydney.

Arriving bright and early, our young people headed straight to Newtown Mission. The Mission provides essential support for people doing it tough, offering meals, outreach, and a safe space for those experiencing homelessness or hardship.

Inside the Jordan Café, our young people rolled up their sleeves and got to work. They began by unloading dozens of pumpkins into the kitchen before helping prepare and serve hot meals to guests.

Before lunch even began, the team had packed and handed out hundreds of bright orange bags filled with pumpkins to the Newtown community. In no time, King Street became a sea of orange as locals gratefully received the unexpected gift. Many stopped to say thank you and praised the generosity and efforts of our young people, who grew these pumpkins and gave them away with nothing expected in return.

With the rising cost of living, receiving a fresh pumpkin meant a lot to many people. It was heartwarming to see the gratitude shared throughout the community.

After lunch was served and the dishes were done, the team jumped into the utes and delivered two full pallets of pumpkins to the Addison Road Community Centre.

Addison Road, affectionately known as Addi Road, is one of Sydney’s most trusted community hubs. Through their Food Pantry and Kitchen, they provide food and support to thousands of individuals and families each week. The pumpkins delivered today will go straight into the kitchen and be shared with people who need it most.
