From inland to the coast, wherever you looked you would’ve found our program staff and kids celebrating NAIDOC Week. We could be found joining in the dancing, music, language circles and other festivities across the region. Our programs attended celebrations with badges, bags, stickers, cupcakes and much more as they mingled and participated in the week’s events.

Voice. Treaty. Truth.
This year we came together in the spirit of harmony and healing.
NAIDOC Week is the time for Australians of all backgrounds to come together in celebration and solidarity with our Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander communities. 2019’s theme of ‘Voice. Treaty. Truth.’ coincides with the United Nations International Year of Indigenous Languages and is all about working together for a shared future.
The Indigenous voice of this country is over 65,000 plus years old. They are the first words spoken on this continent and are precious to our nation. They are languages that passed down lore, know-how, practices, skills, innovation, culture and knowledge for over millennia. And in 2019, it’s time for that knowledge to be heard through the voice of Australia’s First Nations.
As reflected on the NAIDOC organising committee website, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people deserve to have their voices heard. First Nations were excluded from the Constitutional convention debates and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples will continue to fight to be included in the decision-making process for Australia’s democracy.
Voice, Treaty, Truth celebrates the key elements of the Uluru Statement from the Heart reforms, a conversation based on generations of consultation and discussions. These reforms represent the unified position of First Nations Australians.
During the week we were proud to join NAIDOC celebrations as we worked together for a shared future.
